Big test for Wildbeasts

Lebowakgomo Wildbeasts silenced their critics when they reversed their slide with two wins in their last LimDev Super League matches.

They beat newcomers Hlakano Dodgers 6-4 and went on to demolish Mamaolo Rebels 17-2 to confirm their resurgence after a series of indifferent results and a mediocre display in their previous encounters.

But Wildbeasts' success over the two sides was inevitable considering that Dodgers and Rebels do not have enough in their arsenal to deal with a team of Wildbeasts' stature.

Now Wildbeasts' resilience and powers of recovery will be tested by defending champions Mahwelereng Spikes, whom they meet in the pick of the weekend's clashes at Mahwelereng diamonds on Sunday at 3.30pm.

The Lebowakgomo side return to the venue where they were sent spinning to a 2-9 defeat by a powerful Spikes side in their league encounter last season.

After their revival in their last encounters, ecstatic Wildbeasts chairman Polelo Masola said many teams in the Super League, including Spikes, will feel the wrath of his team.

Surely, many people should still be asking themselves today whether Masola knows what Spikes are made of on the diamonds.

The Mahwelereng club is likely to spew bile on Wildbeasts and ensure that Masola and his inconsistent charges return to Lebowakgomo with their tails entrenched between their legs.

Fixtures:

Spikes v Mashite Eagles (10.30am); Rebels v Dodgers (10.30am); Wildbeasts v Eagles (1.30pm); Rebels v Seshego Cannons (1.30pm)

Cannons v Dodgers (3.30pm); Wildbeasts v Spikes (3.30pm).
