The Limpopo police inspector accused of fraudulently withdrawing money from a dead man's account appeared in the Watervaal magistrates' court yesterday.

The accused, Inspector Philemon Mukwevho, 42, is out on R500 bail. His case will be heard again on December 7.

Mukwevho was arrested at the weekend following allegations that he was linked to a number of bank withdrawals from a card belonging to Makatu Mavhungu of Mashau village near Elim.

Mavhungu, a teacher, died after a hit-and-run accident last month .

Police investigated after nearly R5000 was withdrawn from the deceased's account.
