The highly publicised Queen of Dance Summer Tour show was a damp squib.

Artists had to perform in front ofless than 20 people at Wembley Stadium in Turffontein on Saturday.

To add insult to injury, some artists are involved in a pay dispute with the organisers.

Bucie of Ndicel' indoda fame said she got the shock of her life when she was told after the show that she was not going to be paid because "I am new in the industry and was only there for my promotion".

"I was shocked because when they approached me they did not mention all these things."

Kelly Khumalo's manager and fiance, Prosper Mkwaiwa, told Sowetan that a cheque that they received from the organisers bounced.

"I will take another look at this whole thing. We will definitely take legal action if we do not reach common ground."

Phumeza's manager, Mnqobi Mdabe, said Phumeza has also not been paid.

"We are still waiting for the R10000 that other artists received. We will quit the show if we don't get our money by the end of this week. We will not go to Durban."

Queen of Dance is a 16-day roadshow on behalf of the Activism for Non-violence Against Women and Children campaign. It began on Saturday. The show was surrounded by controversy from the beginning, with Chomee and KB not showing up.

It later turned out that Chomee had not signed a contract with the tour's organisers and that they had used her name to promote the show without her consent.

One of the organisers, Dennis Madondo, told Sowetan that they are still waiting for Chomee to come and fetch her cheque.

"Her cheque is ready."
