Mpumalanga police are looking for a man who allegedly raped two women while holding them at knife point on Wednesday afternoon in Ngodwana, near Nelspruit.

The women in their early 30s, told the police they were walking to a shopping complex when a man they did not know emerged from nowhere.

He allegedly threatened them with a knife.

The women said that he ordered them not to cry out. He took off their clothes and ordered them to lie down.

Police said the man raped the one woman and ordered the second one to lie down.

Mpumalanga police spokesman Superintendent Abie Khoabane said: "Both the women said they were raped repeatedly and when he was done, he ordered them to put on their clothes."

Khoabane said: "He went to the shopping complex with the women and then disappeared.

"Once the women were certain that their attacker was gone, they ran to the police station to report the rape," said Khoabane.

He again warned women not to go to deserted places where they could be targeted by people with bad intentions.

The suspect is still at large, but police are confident they will arrest him soon.
