Reverend Dale White was a true disciple. He used his gift from God to touch the lives of many people.
He dedicated his life to the Wilgespruit Fellowship Centre in Roodepoort.
The centre is home to orphans and refugees.
His hard work and dedication were recognised when President Thabo Mbeki awarded him the Grand Counsellor of the Baobab, Gold honour.
White was a member of the late Aggrey Klaaste's prayer group which regularly met at the Sowetan offices on Fridays.
He was born on July 30 1934 in Port Elizabeth, in the Eastern Cape, where he was raised in an orphanage.
The South African Council of Churches general secretary, Eddie Makue, said the SACC was saddened by the death of White.
"He was committed and dedicated to his calling," he said.
White leaves behind his wife, Laetitia, two daughters, two grandchildren and 15 foster children.
He will be buried in Soweto after a funeral service at St Paul's Anglican Church in White City Jabavu on Thursday, November 8.
