Bafana voting is futile exercise

Voting Yes or No for the name Bafana Bafana is a useless exercise, simply because the voting process is conducted and controlled by Sowetan.

Voting Yes or No for the name Bafana Bafana is a useless exercise, simply because the voting process is conducted and controlled by Sowetan.

The second factor is that the name itself is rigid, without style and flair in its meaning.

If you listen to the name Bafana Bafana clearly, you will notice its rigidity being a repetition of the same word Bafana.

In other words it is just Bafana and Bafana and what about them.

It just says boys and does not say what those boys are all about. It is totally an empty name and to try and make people vote Yes or No does not make sense at all.

Voting in this regard is a useless exercise because people are not given an option to give reasons for changing and what other name is suggested, instead of the stupid one for our beloved team.

Another problem is the name Amagluglug, which is one of the names that started as a Sasol advertisement.

A toddler imitating the filling of fuel in his toy Ferrari saying "gluglug" and somebody took this and named our national under 23 team.

What does Amagluglug mean, and what language is that? What a ridiculous act!

Certain individuals simply throw around names without a clear idea of the impact the name should have.
