Under the theme African Sheer Night, the East Comes Alive Jazz Evening will unleash luminary musicians whose prowess in the sector has left many a sceptic mesmerised.

Internationally acclaimed Oliver Mtukudzi will entertain music lovers with his brand of Afro-pop when he takes to the stage at the Jazz Evening at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg on November 2 at 7.30pm.

The popular and unassuming artist took his first music doddering steps in this country when he collaborated with Ringo Madlingozi.

People who had not taken notice of him suddenly came face to face with a music giant whose thoughts, reflections and experiences are captured in more than 50 albums that have enjoyed international fame.

Today Mtukudzi is a welcome permanent fixture at local concerts. He sends audiences into a frenzy when not only strumming his guitar, but executing his unique dance moves.

There is no doubt the humble, yet creative and successful Mtukudzi, is arguably one of Zimbabwe's best music imports today.

Ably representing the fairer sex is the pretty and talented Phinda Mtya. Every time you hear her music, consider her larger than life personality on stage and the playful approach to her craft and you will appreciate her.

Briefly based in Canada, she mesmerised crowds with her soulful and crystal clear voice.

She sings from the heart, yet retains that playful element that comes with relishing what you do.
