Botswana soccer giants Mochudi Centre Chiefs have retained top spot in the Mascom Premier League despite dropping two points at the weekend.

Chiefs, affectionately known as Magoshi, were held to a 2-2 draw by second-placed Uniao Flamengo Santos in a top of the table clash in Gaborone.

Mike Sithole, Chiefs' coach, said their plan was to remain at the helm of the table until the end of the season.

Chiefs are eyeing a place in the lucrative Africa Champions League, one of the two continental competitions where they have featured in the past.

Magoshi have accumulated 15 points from seven games, with Santos on 13 points from six matches. Reigning champions Ecco City Greens, who are seventh on the log, beat struggling Township Rollers 2-1.

Kerapetse Sehularo, Greens' chairman, is optimistic that they will soon return to the summit to successfully defend their title.

Police XI were too strong for Tasc whom they whipped 3-0 to move to fourth spot with 11 points from eight games.

Third-placed Gaborone United have 12 points from seven games. Botswana Meat Commission were in a class of their own when they walloped Notwane 3-0.

Lobatse Gunners and Comets failed to score in their game.

Another game which failed to produce a single goal was between Botswana Defence Force and Boteti Young Fighters. Mogoditshane Fighters and Tafic also left their scoring boots at home.
