Sibisi rookie of the month

Winning the Jet Club PSL rookie of the month award for October in his debut season is a fitting continuation for Free State Stars striker Diyo Sibisi, after he scooped the National First Division's top goalscorer award at the end of last season.

His 19 league goals last season not only helped Ea Lla Koto gain automatic promotion to the Premiership, but also served as a platform to establish him as one of the best strikers in the country.

At the age of 25, an age when most footballers have already made their mark, Sibisi's professional career seems destined for a bright future.

His excellent performance since the start of the season has seen him score six of the club's nine league goals after just six matches. He is also the leading goalscorer, and an early contender for the golden boot.

To win the award Sibisi beat the likes of Bloemfontein Celtic's rising young defender, Tumelo Nhlapo and Kaizer Chiefs striker Mandla Masango. The two other nominees were midfielders Elias Pelembe of SuperSport United and Tlou Segolela of Orlando Pirates.

Sibisi wins R5000 and is in the running for the rookie of the year award at the end of the season.
