Lemo Raphasha believes his return to Polokwane will help his struggling Seshego Raiders to avoid relegation in the Limpopo Softball Association's LimDev Super League this season.
Raphasha, who is the side's player-coach, was based in Louis Trichardt because of job commitments and did not have enough time to prepare the players for their assignments. He also missed the side's crucial matches.
"I'm back and we are all working hard to turn the fortunes of the Raiders around," said Raphasha yesterday.
"The spirit in the camp is high after we managed to win our first match this season at the weekend. We want to start winning consistently and keep the momentum going. Relegation is not part of our vocabulary."
Raiders got their first three points of the season, thanks to a 7-4 triumph over mid-table University of Limpopo at Mamaolo diamonds in GaMphahlele on Sunday. But the win was not enough to get them out of the relegation zone, where they are entrenched.
Raiders started their day on Sunday badly when they were whipped 8-0 by defending champions Mahwelereng Spikes.
The Snakes, who have jumped to second spot on the log, also registered the same score in their second match of the day against Hlakano Dodgers.
The matches also saw the resurgence of Lebowakgomo Wildbeasts, who won their two encounters. They beat Dodgers 6-4 and crowned their inspired display with a 17-2 stroll over hosts Mamaolo Rebels.
Rebels had earlier pipped University 4-3 in a thrilling clash.
