Once again, the SABC3 soapie, Isidingo, shone at this year's South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) on Saturday night.

Thousands of guests at the glamorous event at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg, witnessed Isidingo taking 10 Saftas, beating Generations, Muvhango and Scandal.

The show won TV soap awards for best director, best ensemble cast, best actress, best supporting actor, best post-production and best costume. It did not stop there. Isidingo went on to collect best multi-camera team, best art direction, best sound designer and best writing team award.

SABC1 soapie Generations managed to get two awards: best make-up artist and favourite soapie in Mzansi, that was voted for by the public.

Duma Ndlovu's show, Muvhango, walked away with two awards: best music composition and best supporting actress in a TV soap.

In the TV drama category, producer Khalo Matabane and his show When We Were Black scooped all the awards. The show took thebest documentary feature award, and TV drama awards for best director, best supporting actor, best cinematographer, best writer/writing team, best costume and best music.

Nambitha Mpumlwana walked away with best actress in a TV drama . Patrick Mofokeng won best actor and Siyabonga Twala stole the best actor in a TV soap from Menzi Ngubane. Veteran actress Mary Twala got a special achievement award .

The event was well attended, butthe registration process was a disaster. People entered and exited the venue during the show. Others did not bother to watch and stayed in the food and booze area.
