Rugby world champions, the Springboks, brought Durban to a complete standstill yesterday as they paraded the William Webb Ellis trophy through the city.
The province is home to a number of players, including captain John Smit.
Premier Sbu Ndebele said: "The win was a win for unity in South Africa. This victory is a victory for the Springbok team.
"It is a victory for the administrators and sponsors, and, most of all, a victory for the supporters".
Smit said: "The support we have received is unbelievable. We are proud to have won this trophy".
