As the perceived underdogs, nothing will give Thanda Royal Zulu more satisfaction than claiming the prize scalp of yet another big team, in the form of Mamelodi Sundowns in the semifinals of the Telkom Knockout today.
After disposing of powerhouses Orlando Pirates in the quarterfinal of this competition earlier this month, "Amabhubesi", as the former Rabbits are now called, are confident of winning at Loftus stadium tonight (8pm).
The KwaZulu-Natal outfit are clearly still smarting after Downs stole a point from them in an earlier match in Durban. Sundowns were awarded a late penalty to salvage a 2-2 draw.
"The last time we played against them, they were saved at the last minute," said assistant coach Johan Eriksson. "If everything is officiated fairly, we will give them hell and make things twice as hard as they were in our first game against them."
Eriksson and head coach Roger Palmgren were both confident, despite the absence of key striker Serge Djehuoa through injury.
The league champions, on the other hand, have just acquired the services of Trott Moloto, and are said to be flying high.
Supporters coordinator Daniel Mudau said the club was waiting to hear if Lerato Chabangu's fractured right arm has healed.
