Musiiwa, Motau clash hots up

Khotso Motau has reacted with shock to claims from Farai Musiiwa's camp that they will end his career when they clash at Emperors Palace next month.

"I am startled to say the least," the Zimbabwean boxer said.

This November 21 clash will form part of Knockout Boxing Promotions' seven-bout programme that has been dubbed "Christmas Cracker" by promoters Philip Silver, Jeff Ellis and Allan Young.

Steve Castle, who hones the skills of the Zimbabwean fighter, warned Motau sternly that his career would reach a cul-de-sac after meeting Musiiwa.

Musiiwa, 27, left tongues wagging at Emperors Palace last month against Rupert van Aswegen in their fiercely contested eight rounder that was declared a draw.

But the "Executioner", as Motau, 26, the left-handed knockout specialist from Dube is affectionately known, laughed off Castle's warning.

"Maybe he knows something that I am not aware of," said the former Olympian who posted 11 knockouts in 11 fights since turning professional in 2004.

Motau is the former SA undefeated middleweight champion. He tasted defeat against Shawn Garnett in Canada in July.
