The ANC Youth League will continue to be a thorn in the side of the Springboks until the national team was fully integrated, says its president Fikile Mbalula.

He said the national rugby team should reflect the demographics of the country.

Mbalula said the fact that the team had won the Rugby World Cup did not mean transformation should take a back seat.

"There were only two black players who were part of the team that went to France. That is worrying because rugby is not a sport of a particular race, it is to be enjoyed by all South Africans.

"That is a fundamental question and it is not interfering with sport. We have engaged with the SA Rugby Union. They have welcomed our views," said Mbalula.

Mbalula was speaking yesterday in Pretoria after meeting public protector Lawrence Mushwana.

The ANCYL laid a complaint against the Scorpions.

The complaint followed claims Scorpions chiefs had met in June to discuss how to influence the ANC policy conference.
