Confusion over robbery at Pavillion

The management of Pavillion shopping mall in Durban has denied police reports that two women were shot at and robbed inside the complex.

The management of Pavillion shopping mall in Durban has denied police reports that two women were shot at and robbed inside the complex.

Preston Gaddy, general manager of the popular mall, said the shooting took place outside the premises on Spine Road, near a taxi pick-up spot.

"The women, who are employed by Edgars, had already left the premises when they were attacked," he said.

Superintendent Muzi Mngomezulu had earlier said the two women were walking outside the Edgars store on Wednesday when two shots were fired at them.

"One woman was injured in her right arm. Three suspects grabbed a handbag and ran away."

Durban police spokesman Superintendent Danelia Veldhuizen said the women were robbed by four men.

But she said one woman was injured in her right thigh.

No arrests have been made. - Sapa
