A 16-year-old boy has handed himself over to the police after an attempted housebreaking at Sowetan columnist Lucky Mazibuko's house this week.

The teenager, Mazibuko's nephew, was accompanied to Naledi police station in Soweto yesterday by his mother.

On Monday a gang of three entered Mazibuko's house in Mondeor, Johannesburg South, and allegedly threatened and stabbed domestic worker Emily Morebane, 48.

Mazibuko said his nephew had been on the run for three days. He had laid charges of attempted murder and attempted robbery.

Mazibuko said his nephew's two accomplices were still at large.

HIV-Aids activist Mazibuko alleged his nephew was the gang's ringleader.
