Antagonists William "Dynamite" Gare and Peter "Loverboy" Mashamaite were both unsuccessful in their recent journeys to Germany.

Gare lost a unanimous points decision to Robert Stieglitz over 10 rounds in Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt.

Judges Frank Michael Maass and Manfred Kuechler both scored it 92-98, while Rene Fiebig scored it 93-98.

Gare, 32, from Braamfisherville in Soweto, has been unsuccessful in all six of his fights outside home.

The points loss to Stieglitz was Gare's 14th defeat against 22 wins. This former Transvaal, SA and WBC junior middleweight champion whose skills are honed by Jerry Phukuje holds the SA super middleweight belt.

It was Gare's first fight since June when he outclassed Mashamaite over 12 rounds at Orlando Communal hall in Soweto for the national belt.

Mashamaite lost to Lukas Wilaschek at Gerry Weber Stadium, Halle, last weekend. Scorecards of 96-94, 96-95 and 95-95 suggests it was a close fight.

Obviously the fighter trained by Nick Durandt was never going to win such a close fight against a German in his back yard. It was Mashamaite's second defeat in Germany. He dropped a points decision to Denis Inkin over 10 rounds last year.
