Jordaan a globe-trotter

Danny Jordaan, the 2010 Local Organising Committee chief executive, will address an event organised by the Economist newspaper in London today.

The Economist is a top weekly newspaper in England that focuses on international politics and business news.

The globe-trotting Jordaan will give them an update on South Africa's preparations for the Confederations Cup and World Cup.

It is a great platform for Jordaan to tell people in Europe and some parts of Oceania that South Africa was more than ready to host the quadrennial tournament.

Jordaan was in Accra, Ghana, last week to attend the draw for the 25th Africa Cup of Nations finals at the invitation of the Confederation of African Football.

Jordaan used the opportunity to assure fellow Africans that the preparations were well on track.

Jordaan said South Africa wanted to host a tournament that all Africans would be proud of, adding that they wanted it to leave an ever- lasting legacy on the continent.

Attempts to speak to the influential Jordaan were unsuccessful.
