Drama erupted at the Johannesburg magistrate's court yesterday when police pounced on two men believed to be linked to the four men alleged to have killed reggae star, Lucky Dube.

Though police would not link them to Dube's brutal killing and attempted hijacking, police said the pair was linked to the four suspects.

The two men were wanted for armed robbery and several hijackings. They were arrested while sitting outside Court 13, where the four suspects were due to appear.

The case had to be halted while police tried to find out if the pair was also involved in the Dube killing.

After several hours, police said the duo were not involved in the murder. The case then began. The four suspects - Sifiso Mahlangu, Julius Gxowa, Thabo Maropeng and Mabuti Mabe - appeared before magi-strate Alberto Roux.

They face charges of murder and hijacking, as well as possession of unlicensed firearms and stolen property.

They were not asked to plead and the case was postponed to October 30 for a formal bail application.

They all asked for a state lawyer to represent them.
