Consumer Line recently helped a budding entrepreneur resolve his problem with a company that allegedly sold him an old mini diaper machine.

Consumer Line took up the matter with Cape Town-based Zhaun's Business Opportunity & Engineering Group, after the businessman complained that the company had supplied him with an old machine, instead of a new one.

Nicholas Madi paid R10000 for the machine, but, to his surprise, the company delivered an old battered one.

"First of all, it took them three months to deliver and when they finally did, the cutting table was scratched, rusted and a lot of screws were missing, making it difficult to assemble it," he said.

He said he had informed the company about the problem but nothing was done in the past three weeks.

But Miriam Akbar of Zhaun's company said Madi's problem had finally been resolved.

"Our dispatch manager was reprimanded for not making a follow-up on the problem but we called the client and replaced the cutting table," said Akbar.

She denied claims that the cutting table on the diaper machine was second-hand.

Akbar said the cutting table was taken from the company's old stock, which was why it had rust and scratches.
