Pastor charged for rape

A Limpopo pastor yesterday made a brief appearance in the Giyani magistrate's court after he allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl during a prayer session last Friday.

The Apostolic Church pastor, who enjoys an estimated 2500 following in the area, allegedly raped the girl under the pretext that she would be healed of her ailments.

Mark Khoza, 45, from Hlaneki village outside Giyani, had disappeared shortly after forcing himself on the young girl. He has been remanded in custody until his next appearance on November 2.

On Thursday last week the girl's father, whose name cannot be revealed to protect the identity of the girl, was advised about the power of the pastor's prayers and his miraculous herbs.

Police spokesman in the Giyani area Superintendent Moatshe Ngoepe said the suspect allegedly started praying for the girl during which he allegedly told her to lie down and then started raping her.

l In another bizarre incident a 17-year-old Limpopo boy was allegedly caught having sex with a dog.

The shocking incident took place last Sunday at Mopje village, near Tzaneen, in Limpopo.

Police spokesman in Tzaneen Miyelani Shikwambani said police had opened a case of bestiality.

l Meanwhile, Sne Masuku reports that a KwaZulu-Natal primary school teacher appeared in the Mahlabathini magistrate's court for the rape of a 14-year-old pupil.

Joseph Mbhele, 63, a teacher at Enkonjeni Primary School was arrested on Friday after the girl alleged she had been raped by her class teacher for two years.

lCanaan Mdletshe reports a 12-year-old Inanda boy is expected to appear in the Verulam magistrate's court today, after he allegedly raped a five-year-old toddler. The incident, which has rocked the community of Inanda, allegedly took place on Saturday. Superintendent Vincent Mdunge confirmed the incident.
