Last week was another day in Lagos. I decided to drive the wet streets of Johannesburg for the Channel O Music Video Awards at the City Hall. How depressing. The venue was overcrowded with our African brothers and sisters dressed to the nines. The person who came up with the idea of having the event at the Jozi City Hall should be fired or given a warning. Bad, bad decision. There were not enough seats for invited guests and the RSVP list was not in order.

HI have to say those brothers of Africa look really hot, especially the Nigerian men, loaded with bling. And the Ghanaians wear their flag everywhere they go. Damn, can they just tone down a bit?

HI saw my favourite person at the moment, Lerato of Big Brother, who came with Maxwell. I really like the two together, and they looked so lovely. Keep him in South Africa baby.

HI thought we had a surprise guest when DJ Waxy went on stage. He looked like Will.I.AM from the Black Eyed Peas. Nonhle Thema also looked lovely in a NN Vintage dress. As usual 3sum were there, so was Somizi, and we saw Andile Ncube with Miss SA Teen Zizo Beda.

HChommie looked lost wearing a long coat and worn-off hair extensions, again. Even her date Dudu looked better. Arthur looked clean for a change in a suit a size bigger than his body.

H S'bu Leope really looks good. The gym has done wonders for him. He is back to being a hunk again. Great stuff.

HI saw David Kau with Mmabatho Montsho of Rhythm City, but I didn't see the wife-to-be. Where was she?

HAll the South Africans who were nominated came home with nothing. We'll try again next year.

HHow can promoters try to cut costs with our local artists? How can they offer our own Nhlanhla Nciza a measly R15000 to be the opening act for Mary J Blige? No, it just doesn't work that way. I love Mary, but I also love Nhlanhla. Local artists of the calibre of Nhlanhla command as much as R70000 a show. Now compare this with what was offered to the Afro-pop star. It's madness and a cheek. They think they can get away with it.
