While it is pretty tight on top of the National First Division (NFD's) Inland Stream, it appears to be smooth sailing for Maritzburg United in the Coastal Stream.

United have extended their unbeaten run in the NFD to three matches with a 3-1 drubbing of Durban Stars in a KwaZulu-Natal derby in Pietermaritzburg at the weekend.

United are on top of the log with nine points from three matches, while Stars are sixth on one point from the same number of outings.

Nathi Lions are roaring in second position on seven points.

Dynamos and University of Pretoria, alias AmaTuks, are still tied on seven points on top of the Inland Stream table after they fought out a 1-1 draw in Phalaborwa on Saturday.

The Dynamites finished the match with nine men after Klaas Galane was given marching orders and Rodney Thobejane was injured in the second half.

Thobejane could not be replaced because Dynamos had already made three substitutions at the time of his injury.

Goals by veteran forward Fees Moloi and James Mokoena gave newcomers African Warriors a 2-1 win over basement side Witbank Spurs in their Inland Stream duel at Charles Mopeli Stadium on Saturday,

Spurs' solitary goal was scored by Sipho Malapane.

"We have turned the tide and we are all determined to win our next match," Teboho Moeti, Warriors' general manager, said yesterday.

Temba Mafu, Spurs' co-director, said: "It is bad that we lost, but this does not mean that we are not going to compete this season."

Back in the Coastal Stream, FC Cape Town moved to third position on the log, thanks to a slender 2-1 win over Ikapa Sporting at Blue Downs Stadium.

It was like a stroll in the park for Nathi Lions when they whipped debutants Hanover Park in Umlazi.

The goals were struck by Innocent Mahlambi, Christopher Makhoba and Maxwell Kubheka.

The defeat confined Park to the bottom of the log with one point from a possible nine.

Bay United added to Western Province United's woes when they defeated the Collin Gie-coached side 2-0 in Cape Town.
