Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono will quit coaching after the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
This was said by Sono himself at the Famous Grouse/e.tv/Sowetan Extra Time's monthly forum in Rosebank, Johannesburg, on Thursday.
The Cosmos coach was responding to a question on whether he would ever fire the coach, which is himself, at the club.
"That is the time when we, who have a passion for the game, will be taking football forward. Many of those who are in it for the money will quit after the World Cup as they would have achieved their aims," Sono said.
"That is why some of us reject the idea of commissions. It is immoral when you look at the bigger picture in football.
"Change is needed in South African football. We have the infrastructure, the money and the players and a huge population. South Africa should have been either at the top or in fourth place as far as rankings in Africa are concerned.
"Since we won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1996, our standard of play has gone backwards because we have no structures in place at Safa.
"I would suggest that foreign players who join teams in the elite league, should have 15 caps or at least from five to 10 so that they can add value to our game.
"I would also suggest that we have an academy for the Under-15s, Under-17s, Under-19s and the Under-23s. These teams should play week in and week out to regain the high standard we had in the game."
He also added that there were a lot of exceptionally skilful players in the country, whose talent was going to waste because of lack of structures.
"This country is rich, teeming with players that can be featured in any position," he said.
