Veteran striker Dennis "Chesa Mpama" Lota continued his fine form as he once again showed his goal-scoring prowess when he scored the only goal of the match in an exciting Durban "Zulu" derby between AmaZulu and Thanda Royal Zulu.

The match was played in front of a huge crowd at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Saturday night. It was the first of the expected summit derbies between the two teams that are at each other's throat over the name Zulu.

The game had all the ingredients of a derby, as players from both sides played their hearts out, but it was Usuthu who came tops and thanks to the late goal by Lota who beat Thanda's goalkeeper, Nimrod Tswengwa, with a low shot on 83 minutes.

Desperate to get his side into the match, SA Under-23 international Bernard Parker had his cracker from range sailing over the bar on the 35th minute in one of the rare attacks by Thanda in the first half.

In the second half, both teams made changes in an attempt to get the first goal and it was Lota who supplied the magic to give Usuthu maximum points.
