The Durban Playhouse will vibrate to the sounds of legendary group Stimela when they record a live DVD on November 17.

The band will reunite to record a double DVD. The group will take patrons down memory lane with songs like Whispers in the Deep and Who's Fooling Who.

Stimela icon Ray Phiri says he is excited about the reunion.

"In building up Stimela, we had one thing in common - to serve our community and be the voice of the voiceless."

Stimela was formed in 1981. Its sounds have been described as a fusion of different elements and styles that resulted in a unique sound.

It is this distinctive combination of vision, experience, dedication, passion and love of music that the four members - Phiri (guitar), Isaac Mtshali (drums), Jabu Sibumbe (bass) and Lloyd Lelosa (piano and keyboard) - will bring to Durban.

This one-day only concert will be preceded by a workshop for up-and-coming musicians. It is scheduled for early November at Durban's Bat Centre.

The group will give talks and practical advice to musicians who hope to one day achieve the same respect in the music industry that was enjoyed by Stimela.
