A construction worker was stabbed to death in an argument over food in Mpumalanga on Monday.

David Nkuna, 28, and his colleagues had pooled money to buy a breakfast of chips and bread, but one of them was not satisfied with his share of the food and apparently knifed Nkuna.

Nkuna was certified dead by paramedics at the scene.

Superintendent Abie Khoabane said a Mozambican suspect was arrested in connection with the incident and is expected to appear in the Nelspruit magistrate's court soon.

Attempts to contact the construction company's management for comment on the incident proved fruitless yesterday.
