Danny Jordaan, the 2010 World Cup Local Organising Committee chief executive, is expected to arrive in Ghana today.
Jordaan will give an update to the African sports media on South Africa's preparations for the tournament.
He has also been invited by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) executive committee to also update them on their preparations.
"It is true that I have been invited by CAF, but I suggest you speak to them for further information on the matter," said Jordaan.
Habuba Suleiman, CAF director of communications, could not be reached for comment.
Regarding their preparations, Jordaan said they were encouraged by the support they received from the Fifa delegation that visited South Africa last week.
The delegation praised all aspects of South Africa's preparations, including the progress in constructing Green Point Stadium in Cape Town and Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
"So far, so good. Everything is going according to plan," said Jordaan.
Ghana is the place to be this week for many people involved in soccer as the draw for the 26th edition of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations takes place.
The draw, where Bafana Bafana are among the 16 countries that will go into the hat, takes place on Friday morning.
CAF president Issa Hayatou, who is the convenor of the 2010 World Cup Fifa organising committee, will be one of the prominent officials conducting the draw.
Hayatou will be assisted by CAF deputy president Molefi Oliphant and other executive committee members.
Hayatou and his executive will also inspect the facilities that will be used for the Afcon. The inspection tour begun yesterday.
It is the first time a CAF president inspects the facilities. The four venues for the tournament from January 20 to February 10 are Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi and Tamale.
