South African actress Brenda Ngxoli, pictured, is poised to walk away with an Emmy when the awards take place in New York on November 19.

Ngxoli, who plays Vuyo in Home Affairs (a multi-lingual drama screened in isiZulu, isiXhosa, Sesotho, Afrikaans and English by the SABC), has been nominated for Best Actress in a Series, while the series got the nod for Best Drama Series.

The national broadcaster is thrilled about this achievement.

"This series forms part of our endeavour to tell stories that portray the real South Africa we live in. Being recognised in this way tells us that we are on the right track because it's a truly South African series," said Kethiwe Ngcobo, SABC Head of Drama: Content Hub.

The SABC will continue to support the drama as it gears up for the awards ceremony, said SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago.

Ngxoli, a University of Cape Town drama graduate, has won several awards and has acted in Tsha Tsha, Interrogation Room 2, City Ses'la and Zero Tolerance.
