Long walk to qualification

"Just a note to thank you for handling the above matter for me," writes happy mother Nomkitha Sondezi.

"Just a note to thank you for handling the above matter for me," writes happy mother Nomkitha Sondezi.

"I don't know what you said to Rosebank College, but before the end of the day on Monday, I received a call telling me to fetch my daughter's certificate.

"I am pleased to say that I have the certificate in my hands. Without your intervention, I would still be waiting."

Fisiwe, Sondezi's daughter, studied for a Travel and Tourism diploma at Rosebank College in Johannesburg.

"As part of the qualification, Fisiwe was required to do an external course with Galileo, which she unfortunately did not pass," said Sondezi.

Fisiwe Sondezi later wrote a supplementary exam, which she passed.

They have been waiting for the diploma since December last year and when they enquired from the college, they were told that Galileo did not send the certificate.

Sondezi said: "Later I learnt that Rosebank College did not pay Galileo in full and that is why they did not receive the certificate.

"Can you please assist and intervene because it's vital to have those certificates as part of her qualification. This is delaying my daughter's opportunity of finding employment," said the desperate mother.

Tamlyn Porter, vice principal of Rosebank College, apologised profusely for any inconvenience caused to Fisiwe and Nomkitha Sondezi.

"We have collected the outstanding certificate for Fisiwe and have contacted her mother that the certificate is ready for collection," said Porter.
