Three South African soccer legends have come together to help in the development of the sport throughout the country.
They are Teboho "Tebza Ngwana" Moloi, Albert "Bashin" Mahlangu and Ernest "Botsotso" Makhanya - who all played for Orlando Pirates.
They have teamed up with P Management to conduct coaching clinics.
"We are delighted that the three soccer greats saw it fit to plough back into the community," said Nonhlanhla Nkosi of the management company.
"They will be conducting coaching clinics, starting in Soweto at Zone 5 sport grounds near the Filelitas High School in Diepkloof on October 17, from 11am.
"The clinics are open but we are targeting school children. Some of the schools invited are Mangwele Primary, Diepdale High and Tiyane High.
"The following week the plan is to visit the formerly whites-only schools in Sandton and surrounding areas. We will be teaching participants about the basics of soccer.
"It has become a trend lately that everybody who is involved in soccer is targeting the 2010 World Cup, ours is now and beyond 2010. The objective of the clinics is to unearth talent. We all know that most of the children have no exposure, especially those in rural areas.
"We are creating a platform where they will also be exposed. The training methods in most areas are outdated, that is why we also invite the teachers to attend."
Nkosi said they will also be meeting the departments of sports and education in various provinces as well as local municipalities to get support for this initiative.
"We run the project from our own pocket, hence we appeal to the corporate world to assist us."
Moloi, a development coach at Bucs, said: "I felt honoured when they asked me to be part of this social responsibility programme; football development is my passion."
