A senior official in the Greater Tzaneen municipality in Limpopo has challenged his bosses about the alleged appointment of a manager in his office without his consent.

Community services manager Obby Mkhombo has threatened to take up the matter with his lawyers. This follows the alleged controversial appointment of Vincent Maake as manager in the same department where Mkhombo works.

Mkhombo has given the municipality seven working days to reverse Maake's appointment. Maake was appointed to the position last month.

He was previously an engineering manager at the municipality on a contract basis.

The municipality, however, could not renew his contract last year, until the latest developments where he assumed his new responsibilities as from September 1. - Alex Matlala
