This is something that they intend to introduce from grassroots level to the highest league.
I fully support this move and my wish is that it can also be introduced in South Africa.
Granted, some of our referees always blunder in almost all matches but they need to be treated like human beings.
How?
We need to adopt a professional way in highlighting our concerns during matches.
We should not treat match officials like dirt, but like people who are part of the match.
They are human beings and they need to be respected as such.
Our players sometimes think they are big on the field of play just because they are applauded by spectators on the grandstands.
They are not special and they should know this.
We should stop blaming referees every time a team loses.
But one can argue that Safa's referees' department is not doing enough to improve the standard of refereeing in this country.
I can agree with this argument.
We are always told about the referees' review committee but we don't know what it is they are reviewing.
If indeed they review matches and assess the performances of match officials I don't think the match officials would be as inconsistent as they are today.
To see the so-called referees' experts on our small screens promoting or criticising referees does not make sense to me.
These experts should invite referees to their programme to explain their performances. The public should be afforded a chance to ask them questions.
We really deserve to know the problems affecting our referees so as to be able to address the issues and help them.
But still this does not mean that the players should do as they please when they raise their concerns.
We should have one person who will speak to the men and women in black.
This will be better than everyone flocking to the referee.
