If there is one positive that has already come out of the Telkom Knockout last 16 stage over the week, it is that the future of South African goalkeeping is very bright indeed.

It had been argued at some stage that Premiership clubs are not encouraging the development of local goal minders and were engaging foreigners to the detriment of our national teams.

But, hats off to youngsters Itumeleng Khune of Kaizer Chiefs and Tladi Mathibe of Moroka Swallows for the splendid performance they dished out in the clash last Saturday.

For those who missed the near-miraculous saves from these future stars, then the African Soccer Television show which airs on SABC1 Sport's Laduma programme on Sunday is a must view.

Chiefs' 3-1 penalty shootout victory over Swallows in Tshwane last weekend is among the highlights that will also include the 2007 Cosafa Cup semifinals played at the Super stadium in Atteridgeville earlier in the day.

The red hot Chipolopolo marched into the finals when Zambia tore Mozambique apart with a clinical 3-0 defeat in the first game of the double-header.

That win has given South Africa a very early chance for revenge as Teko Modise's sizzler accounted for Botswana and Bafana Bafana scraped through 1-0.

That set the stage for a Chipolopolo-Bafana Bafana final on October 27 at a venue still to be announced.

The Zambians beat South Africa 3-1 in an Afcon qualifier last month through Chris Katongo's hat trick.

Highlights from the Ivory Coast League's cup show the mighty Asec Mimosa beating Africa Sport 2-0 and then later accounting for Issia 3-0.
