A Limpopo family is unhappy at the police's alleged failure to properly investigate the killing of their relative.
This follows the mysterious death of John Mamabolo of Telbrog village in Senwabarwana, who had allegedly gone to pray at Mogodumo mountain, near Lebowakgomo, on August 1.
Mamabolo, 63, had gone there in the company of a fellow churchgoer for a night-long vigil.
While there, the two allegedly made a fire and continued to pray until they fell asleep.
Mamabolo was found dead the following morning, allegedly after suffering from burns to his body.
"But, we discovered on the day the body was delivered home for burial that there were missing body parts ," said Reuben Mamabolo, the deceased's elder brother.
He said the body was found without ears, eyes, nose and some hair.
Now the family believes their relative was murdered for ritual purposes.
"We then informed the police about the missing body parts but they failed to respond positively."
Mamabolo said the man who accompanied his brother to the mountain had not said a thing.
The man was summoned to appear before the village's court, where he allegedly confessed that he knew about the whereabouts of the victim's body parts, he said.
Provincial police spokesman Senior Superintendent Motlafela Mojapelo said the case had been taken over by the commercial crimes unit and that investigations were continuing.
