The embattled Soweto community radio station Jozi FM continues to make headlines as the security company it employed demands payment of R97000 "for services rendered".
Event security services provider, Stephen Selomo, has accused the station of failing to pay him after he rendered his services at a festival held in Soweto last November.
Station chief operating officer Nunu Mchunu claimed she had no knowledge of the owner or the company.
"I don't know anyone by that name. We use different companies for different events. I don't know which company we used for that particular festival," she said before slamming the phone down.
Selomo, owner of Selomo Security Services, said: "When they had a festival at the Simba Grounds in Klipspruit, they asked me to provide security. All the big names in kwaito and Afropop, such as Mafikizolo, Kabelo and Arthur Mafokate were there. I provided them with 100 guards and 10 bouncers.
"When they were supposed to pay, they referred me to festival sponsor Vodacom. The man I spoke to at Vodacom promised to pay me but he has since changed numbers and is probably avoiding me.
"I went back to Jozi FM because I had a contract with them. They are ignoring me. My lawyer has served them with papers," Selomo said.
Vodacom spokesman Yolanda Berry said the company would respond once it had received a written inquiry on whether the company sponsored the event.
