Shwi are the best maskandi outfit

Hate them or love them, but you cannot wish maskandi duo Shwi Nomtekhala away.

The group collected two awards in the South African Traditional Music Awards (Satma) held in Durban last weekend. Shwi Nomtekhala won the Best Song of the Yearand Best Selling Album awards.

The glamorous event was held at Durban's ICC. Shwi Nomtekhala are probably the first group to sell 620000 copies of one album in the country.

The group's album, Angimaz'ubaba, has sold 200000 copies. Other winners included Ihashi Elimhlophe who walked away with Best Video award.

Young maskandi group Amageza Amahle shocked many when they took home the Best Maskandi Album award.

In the Best Compilation Album, female maskandi outfit Imithente shone.

The veteran scathamiya group Kings Star Brothers won the category and Soul Brothers won the Best Mbaqanga award.

The Best Traditional Xitsonga Album went to Nurse Mokoena for her debut album Jekson.
