Safpu flays Malabela

The South African Football Players Union (Safpu) has accused Pat Malabela of being unqualified to criticise Trevor Manuel, the minister of finance.

This after Malabela felt Manuel was not well informed in so far as the sponsorship bonuses in the Premier Soccer League were concerned.

Said Elvis Sekgobela, Safpu's media officer: "The South African Football Players Union is disappointed with the comments made by former Dynamos owner Pat Malabela in Sowetan today [yesterday].

"Malabela has come out to criticise Minister of Finance Trevor Manuel about the R50 million commission.

"Though Safpu doesn't have problems with the commission issue, what is disturbing is for Malabela to comment as the boss of Dynamos whereas he said he has given the team to his brother July after the Dynamos status was sold to AmaZulu last year.

"The question we are asking the Premier Soccer League is who is Pat Malabela to comment on the matters that are far away from him? The Premier Soccer League must come clean and set the record straight about the issue of Dynamos and AmaZulu." - Sowetan
