If you are into theatre of the mind, the place to be is the State Theatre, Pretoria, where the play The Truth in Flames, written and directed by Patrick Sanku Bokaba is on until Sunday.

The play stars Eddie Malungane. It is a one-hander.

The story is simple and straight forward. In the ever moving island lives a man, Keentseng, who is bitter about his long-time struggle to reach out to the unreachable masses. He moans for the lack of compassion and human interaction he longs for from mankind.

Moreover, the harshness and shrewdness shown by these "normal people" push him to the doldrums. The play takes place in his idling mind.

Malungane started acting as a youngster in community theatre in Atteridgeville. He is currently in his final year at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) where he is studying drama. He has appeared in various school productions, including Surviving Me, Here Comes A Chopper and Le Regard Sur La Vie.

He also featured in M-Net's short film, Accidental Passenger.He also starred in Down the Graveside and Laduma produced by Morethetho Arts Projects. He is currently doing fieldwork under the State Theatre Development department.

Bokaba, the director, was trained and mentored by the late Gibson Kente.

He appeared in several TV productions including Lahliwe, Jozi Streets, Egoli, Generations, Soul City 7, Mzansi, Backstage, Hillside and Julia II on German TV. -
