A 21-year-old Eastern Cape man, Sibulele Gijana, was allegedly stabbed to death by the mother of his child following an argument on Monday afternoon.

Police spokesman Captain Jackson Manatha yesterday said the suspect, 18, went to demand nappies from the victim when an argument ensued between them at Sigingqini, in Butterworth.

"It is alleged that another woman, believed to be a girlfriend of the deceased, came out with two knives. A fight ensued between the two women. The deceased tried to separate the women when the mother of his child allegedly stabbed him once in the upper body," he said.

Manatha said the deceased died at Butterworth Hospital.
