The remains of two Azanian National Liberation Army (Azanla) soldiers who were killed in 1982 will be exhumed in Zeerust today.

Petros Oupa Masango and Peter Mukovhi were captured and killed by the South African security forces after they had entered South Africa from Botswana.

Azanian People's Organisation (Azapo) spokesman Strike Thokoane said the duo's whereabouts were until now unknown to their families and the organisation.

"Their bodies were found recently by the NPA in a shallow grave at Ikageleng cemetery in Zeerust. This brought relief to their parents," said Thokoane.

Masango, who came from Mpumalanga, was 16 and Mukovhi 26 when they joined Azanla in Botswana.

Thokoane said members of Azapo and comrades of the late soldiers will accompany the families to the ceremony.
