Johannesburg Secondary School ended their soccer season on a high note by winning the 2007 edition of the MTN Under-16 Cup.
The school, which has a cooperation agreement with Premiership side Orlando Pirates, hammered Zacheus Malaza of Witbank 3-0 in the final in Mamelodi on Saturday.
Johannesburg were presented with R75000 for their efforts, with the Mpumalanga institution getting R50 000. Highlands North Boys finished third.
In terms of the rules and regulations of this popular tournament, schools qualifying for prize money are not given cash.
They are required to submit a list of their needs - such as computers, desks, sports or laboratory equipment - to the organisers.
Junior Bhengu, Johannesburg's coach, said: "We deserved to win and congratulations to the boys for a job well done."
It is the second major title Bhengu has won after guiding Pirates' juniors to the Safa Gauteng East Under-19 League title last month.
Themba Tshabalala, South African Schools Football Association publicist, said: "It was a great tournament and we would like to thank all those who contributed to its success.
"However, the winners are not going anywhere this year as the World Cup for schools takes place every two years.
"But the good thing is that our sponsors have once more decided that the best three players will go to Ghana for the Africa Cup of Nations in January."
The trio are Charl Beukes (Luckhoff School, Western Cape), Thys Modise (Harmony, Free State) and Lwazi Skhosana (Highlands North, Gauteng).
A total of 18 high schools - provincial winners and runners-up - took part in the tournament, which started last Tuesday.
