With one game to go in the group stage of the Absa Currie Cup, the Cheetahs have secured a home semifinal billed for October 13 at a venue still to be announced.

This after the Cheetahs came from behind to edge a stubborn Sharks outfit 25-23 after trailing 6-10 at the break in a gruelling affair in Bloemfontein on Saturday. Willem de Waal's superb penalty after the final hooter had sounded, sealed the win.

The Sharks had seemed destined for victory and had a well-deserved 23-22 lead at the time.

The Cheetahs have cemented their top position on the log with 51 points from 13 games.

The second-placed Sharks also gained a home semifinal despite their loss. They have 45 points from 13 matches and are 11 points ahead of the third-placed Bulls, who overcame Boland 62-16 on Saturday. The Lions annihilated the Griquas 28-0 in Kimberley, while Western Province beat he Falcons 46-23 in Brakpan.
