Seardel Investment Corporation Limited has been signed up as the official licensed clothing manufacturer bearing the 2010 World Cup trademark.

This was announced by Global Brands Group, a global leading independent, international brand management, retail and licensing company.

The group was appointed by Fifa in 2005 as both global exclusive licensing representative and its store for its branded retail destinations from this year to 2014. The deal announced yesterday will see retailers throughout South Africa start carrying a wide range of the 2010 World Cup merchandise.

The 2010 World Cup official licensed products will include T-shirts, shorts, scarves, jackets, sleep wear and underwear.

As one of the largest textile and clothing manufacturers in South Africa, Seardel employs 15 000 people and expect's to create more additional jobs after signing the World Cup deal.

Mark Matheny of Global Brands Group said the partnership was in line with their company's ongoing commitment to support the South African clothing industry.

Aaron Searll of Seardel said they were delighted to be part of what "is expected to be South Africa's biggest licensed property in the next few years".
