Azanian People's Organisation (Azapo) in Limpopo will stage a protest march in Sekhukhuni against the high rate of crime in the province.

Azapo wants all licensed and unlicensed firearms to be handed over to police.

The organisation believes that, of 100 deaths in Limpopo, 55 percent are caused by firearms, 25 percent by road accidents, 15 percent by HIV-Aids and five percent by natural causes.

Spokesman Kgotsupo Leputu said the protest was triggered by the recent killing of Balobedu chief, Mohlago Ramothwala, who was shot 11 times.
