Women from various religious denominations are to pray for Health Minister Manto Tshaba-lala-Msimang in Pretoria today, her department said.

"The prayer is aimed at expressing appreciation for the full recovery of Dr Tshaba-lala-Msimang after she underwent a successful liver transplant at Donald Gordon Medical Centre six months ago," her spokesman, Sibani Mngadi, said yesterday.

Mngadi said the prayers would take place at St Albans Anglican Cathedral in Pretoria.

Prayer sessions would be led by various religious leaders including Bishop Mapula Mtintso-Masitha and Bishop Edith Mofokeng of the Anglican Church.

There has been much controversy in the media and in court over the last two months about whether Tshabalala-Msimang was an ideal candidate for a liver transplant. - Sapa
