Top wheelchair tennis players from around the country and Africa will invade Polokwane from today to take part in two major events over seven days.

They will compete in the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA)-sponsored Limpopo Open which will start at 8am today and finish on Sunday.

The event will also include players from Zimbabwe.

There will also be action galore at the Silver Fund Cup for Africa, the continental showpiece, which is also sponsored by ACSA jointly with the Johann Cruyff Foundation.

The Silver Fund tournament, which will be staged for the first time in South Africa, will be held from October 1 to 3.

This is an invitational event where the top two players in both female and male categories, as well as the best junior players, compete for a wild card entry to the 2008 Beijing Paralympics. The participating players are from South Africa, Morocco, Tanzania, Nigeria and Gabon.

Local top-ranked male and female players Sydwell Mathosi and Kgothatso Montjane will be taking part in this highly competitive event.
