SA U-20s gear up for Lesotho
Thulani Serero and Shakes Sonzana are some of the youngsters called-up to do duty for the South African Under-20 national soccer team.
The duo, along with Tshepo Gumede, have graduated from Majimbos who reached the seventh African Under-17 Championships finals in Togo in March.
Serame "Rhee" Letsoaka, Amajita's head coach, said the team assembled at a leading hotel in Johannesburg on Sunday.
"We have added a few more players from the previous camp. Some of the boys are from the previous Under-17 national side.
"We are preparing for an away international friendly against the Lesotho Under-20 national side at Setsoto Stadium on Friday.
"I have worked with the majority of these boys, some at the Under-23 level," said Letsoaka after a training session yesterday.
George Maluleke, who is also doing duty for the Under-23 national side, is also in the team leaving for the Mountain Kingdom today. Letsoaka has also included Oupa Manyisa from Jazzy Queen Legodi's Africa Youth Sports Academy and Thanda Royal Zulu's Sibusiso Mxoyama in the team.
Manyisa and Mxoyama have also featured for the Under-23s.
"There is no doubt we have assembled a strong team, I would have loved to have Ramahlwe (Mphahlele of Moroka Swallows) but he made it clear to me he is not available," said Letsoaka.
Letsoaka and his technical staff are using the tournament to sharpen the team up for the Cosafa Metropolitan Under-20 Cup in Nelspruit in November.
