Things remain tense at Soweto's Jozi FM.
The community of Dube, where Jozi FM is located, are now accusing the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) of being in bed with the station's management - making it difficult for Icasa to solve problems at the station.
The community now says Icasa is failing to resolve the crisis at the station. As a result, the community has elected a task team to tackle the crisis.
The station has been rocked by controversy for some months after certain presenters accused management of corruption.
Jozi FM management recently suspended popular presenters Mbuyiselo "Zuluboy" Mhlanga, Macdonald Matsau, Nolly Gomati and Tshenolo Montshojang.
The task team has passed a vote of no confidence on Icasa.
"A series of meetings between Icasa, the task team and the station management has taken place. We came up with decisions to deal with the matter.
"The disturbing factor is that almost all of the decisions taken at these meetings have not been carried out. All that the task team required was a annual general meeting so we can replace the board of directors, which would in turn hire new management.
"The problem at the moment is not the board but the management. We need to replace the board for them to hire new management," said board member David Mathebula.
He said management was aware that it would be out of a job come the next general meeting. This was why it was dragging its feet in organising the meeting.
"The meeting, scheduled for October 6, was not being advertised on radio. People do not know where the meeting will be held. We suspect that the venue will be switched at the last moment, thus denying the community the right to participate," he said.
At the centre of the row are allegations of the gross mismanagement of funds. It is alleged that up to R3million has not been accounted for.
Several presenters who had spoken about corruption at the station have since been suspended. Some who were perceived to have been close to the previous management were allegedly being victimised for siding with whistle-blowers.
It has been almost three months since the suspensions and no internal disciplinary hearings had taken place.
Icasa spokesman Sekgoela Joel Sekgoela said the authority has instructed the station's management to hold the annual general meeting on October 6.
Further, the station is required to make arrangements with the Independent Electoral Commission to facilitate the election of the community forum structure and a board of directors, Sekgoela added.
